14 yellow PL #3

Our tournament couldn't have gone better if I asked!!  The team played so well that it left our parents and I reflecting back to our first friendship tournament laughing how we expected our season to be pretty challenging!  The girls have gone from not knowing any position or saying a single word to not only knowing their regular position, but able to adjust to a new one if I need them and being able to communicate so well with each other on the court!  When they did get a bit lazy on the court, I took a coaching tactic from our awesome head coach on team red and threatened 50 burpees if another ball dropped on the floor without someone going for it and……well, lets just say, we are not doing burpees!  Team yellow went through the whole tournament without a single set lost and took the championship!!  The gym was hot and the girls at times were tired, but there was always someone fresh off the bench that when given the opportunity, came into the game and played just as hard as if they had been in all day!  I am so proud of team yellow for their hard work and determination to play hard and have fun!!  Coming home with a second tournament championship is just a bonus!!  GO YELLOW!!!

OJVA 14 Yellow CEVA pl#2

We played very well at our power league especially since we just moved up to this division. We placed first in pool play! Once in crossovers, we fought in 3 very close matches but lost in the end. We were technically a better team, but they were very scrappy and was able to return the ball. It was a tough loss. We won the next game to maintain our seed. All in all, it was a good day and a total team effort! One thing I have to point out is our team is a completely different team than how we started! There has been such a high rate of improvement overall, it is fun to be a part of. Keep it up team yellow! I know we can move up a division at the next power league!

14 Yellow PL Qualifier #2 Highlight

We all successfully hydro-planed to Salem! And once we woke up halfway through our first set, we were unstoppable!  Even though the competition was not at the level we are used to playing, we worked hard on playing "our" game and not lowering our skill level to those teams we played. Our whole team is improving with every touch of the ball! Confidence levels keep rising!  I have Nick named Hazuki 'Ace' for her crazy number of aces, Charlotte was complemented by an opposing coach for her beautiful hands when she sets, and Tia discovered her 'game face'!! I'm so proud of how they all played! We won every match in two sets. And took the cross over round quickly playing the best we played all day!

14 Yellow PL Qualifier #1 Highlight

We had a great day all around celebrating our first win of the season against Juniper in three sets.  We then lost in two to Silver foxes and finished our pool with a win in two against Aces teal. Our pool results ended with us in a three way tie for first, but due to points, we placed third. We were matched up with Aces Orange and won in two sets and immediately played Salem who we took a disappointing loss to in three sets. 25-20, 31-29, and 20-18. While fatigue was a factor here, I chalk this loss up to poor reffing!  Parents from the other team were agreeing with me! So, a bitter loss to end the day.
As for our refereeing, I am proud to say we did it and did it well! First game without a problem, but our second game, a few things came up once with me and another with the scorekeeping, and in all cases, we were right!! Woohoo! Super proud of us!
Every single player stood out throughout the tournament.  But if there's one player that stood out, it was Hazuki with her reliable serving, and amazing digs! We got some cheering down on the court and the bench which made every game so much fun!  All in all, I'm so happy with how we started the season and look forward to the season!
