Day one of the new qualifier was a great opportunity for 14 Red to be tested and get in the tourney groove. We took 2nd in our pool after a tough 3 set loss to Tillamook 14-1 and crossed over to a very good and under-seeded DSK team. Those girls were big and took some big swings but our girls hung tough and played them very tight. Although we didn't win the match we bounced back and won the second match. The first day dropped us from 68 to 77, but the girls got game tough and showed how well they can really play. What we lost in seeding, we gained in physical and mental growth.
On day 2 we came in fired up and ready to play! Tillamook, who took our 68 seed, was in our pool for the 2nd time in a row. With the 52 seed up for grabs in our pool, the girls fought hard, avenged the loss to Tillamook with a nice win, and also took down Southside and Webfoot to win our pool. Im not sure if they just wanted to go home early(we were in Albany for the 2nd weekend in a row), but 14 Red played a focused and disciplined match against a good Pirates team to win our crossover and head back to Portland with the highest seed in both pools at 52!!! The team played aggressive and together and really earned their new seed! Way to go ladies!!!
GO RED!
